    Ausonius (Decimius Magnus Ausonius, ca. CE 310–395) quotes this saying in his book Septem Sapientum Sententiæ (Sayings of the Seven Wise Men) and attributes it to Kleoboulos of Lindus (6th century BCE), one of the Seven Sages of Greece.
