Life is quick, and the dead care not about revenge

I am seeking as many translation variations (formal/informal) for the following introspective phrase:

"Life is quick, and the dead care not about revenge."

The following is what I've come up with thus far, but I sense the diction and syntax may be awkward (if not plain wrong): "Vita Est Velox, Quod Morituri Cura Non Erga Lex Talionis." (I chose "lex talionis" (the "law of retribution/retaliation") primary for aesthetics, as it is a well-recognized Latin phrase even among lay persons.)

Any responses would be much appreciated.... Thanks in advance! :)

    Cheers,
    / Brian

    I would write:

Vita quidem brevis, mortuis autem nil cum ultione/talione.
