Looking for names for my rats!

I have just adopted two agouti hooded rats, currently dubbed Bert and Ernie but I am looking for something a bit more original.
Both of them only have half tails (due to a birth defect or mum bit them off when they were kittens) so am thinking about going down that route.
Can anyone tell me the translation for Half Tail?
    Thanks so much

I suggest semicauda, -ae (f) if a noun is desired, or semicaudatus, -a, -um if an adjective.

There are two of the creatures? For the second one might substitute a Greek prefix for the Latinate: hemicauda, or hemicaudatus.

Addendum: I note that semicaudata is in use as a specific name for at least two creatures, the Pacific Sheath-Tailed Bat Emballonura semicaudata, and a fossil bivalve.
