    Hi everyone,

Wondering about the phrase "set the record." (as in - I just set the record for longest throw, etc.) 'instituere' seems like it might work here. Something like 'modo factum optimum institui.'

Does anyone know of a lexical item that matches this meaning? I can think of a few circumlocutions (factum optimum, etc.).

    Thanks!

    One possible suggestion:

to break the record -- gradum praestitutum superare

You really can't go wrong with Traupman's New College Dictionary if you need equivalents to modern phrases like this.
