what's the difference of uses?
stella is just a basic word for "star".
astrum is synonymous, but found in "poetry or more elevated prose".
sidus is defined as "Stars united in a figure, a group of stars, a constellation", and in classical prose is usually found in the plural because of that definition.
They also have other metaphorical meanings found in poetry. A good dictionary like Lewis and Short can give you more information.
