When shall we live, if not now?

I would like this quote from MFK Fisher translated into Latin, so a friend of mine can paint it on my dining room wall.

    Thanks!

wouldn't that be: why be alive now?

I ſimplified it to mean "why don't we live now?"

Why not something more literal, such as:
    quando nisi nunc vivemus

I appreciate all the efforts, but I think that the word "shall" is particularly important in this quote and the sense of that has been left out in both these translations. She's asking "when ARE you going to live (fully) if not right now"

    Thanks again!

    What makes you think that?

    vivemus means, "We shall live"

Oh, sorry. My Latin is practically non existant - I have to puzzle everything out with my beginners' text book.

That is literal if the ‘shall’ is future. If ‘will’ can be substituted, this is the case.

Quando nisi nunc vivamos? is the literal translation if the ‘shall’ is deliberative. If ‘should’ can be substituted, this is the case.

I intuitively understood it as the latter.
