Ab litteram

Hello,

I would like to know if "ab litteram" and "Ad litteræ" are correct and what they mean.

I know that "ad litteram" means "literally".

If "ab litteram" and "ad litteræ" are not well-known or widely used phrases, is it grammatically correct? Would that mean something?

Thank you for your help.

Neither is correct. Ad requires the accusative and ab requires the ablative, so the only options are ad litteram and ab/ā litterā.

Thank you for your answer.

So, if "ad litteram" means "literally", how would you translate "ab littera"?

I don't know of any idiomatic use of ab littera, so without context I'd just perceive it as some vague (away) from (the) letter.
