Aeneid XI 854 vana tumentem

The sense suggests that vana should be ablative, but when I scan it, the final a should be short. What am I missing?

Ut vī|dit lae|tantem ani|mīs ac |vāna tum|entem,

It's a neuter accusative plural used adverbially, like in another post of yours some time ago. A Greek construction sometimes imitated by Latin poets.
