I realize that only capital letters existed in Xenophon's alphabet, but is there a standard for the capitalization of Ancient Greek?

My current textbook capitalizes (so far as I've seen) only proper nouns and demonyms, and not sentence initial letters. Am I bound by some ancient tradition to do likewise?

The custom to start sentences with a capital (in Greek as well as in Latin texts) did not exist until the early modern ages, and even since that time both types have always been in use. I don't know for sure of any definite rule for it, but I doubt that there is. I guess it's just a question of personal taste.

In Assimil’s Le grec ancien sentence initial letters are capitalized.
