Tattoo "Desire urges me on while fear bridles me"

This is from Giordano Bruno's the heroic frenzies, and it is an ethical poem about the inspiration and energy of one's desires battling the realism and experience of fear. The term "bridle" refers to the piece of equipment used on a horse's head to control their behavior and movements despite their natural predilection or instinctual choices.

For me personally, this saying embodies the human tendency to take chances and risks based in feelings of love and raw emotion balanced by the human tendency for self preservation and caution in not getting hurt.
