Hi guys - I'd like to get a tattoo for my mum who has just passed away. I wanted to check if an online translator was right.

I put in God protect my mother and got out deus servo meus matris.

Is it grammatically correct?

The sentence needs work. I suggest "Deus protege meam matrem."

Diaphanus' translation is correct for "God, protect my mother"; that is, it speaks directly to God and asks him to do the action. Personally I think "May God protect my mother" might be better (and might be what you were trying to say in the first place); for this, change protege to protegat.

I think I prefer having it as a request directly to God. It seems much more personal.

Like 'May God hear my prayer' is slightly more removed than 'God, hear my prayer'. But thanks for both responses.
