Re: help translating the meaningof a name please

The name Hannah appears in the Latin Bible as Anna. Strong's Concordance translates the name as "grace."
If you're wanting Latin for "gift of God," it's usually donum Dei, but you might prefer gratia Dei - "grace of God" but translated "gift of God" in Romans 6:23 and 2 Titus 1:6.
Your friend might not like either Anna, donum Dei or Anna, gratia Dei., saying her name is Hannah, not Anna.

I suppose you could substitute Hannah, donum Dei or Hannah, gratia Dei.

I am here. You can look here: http://www.behindthename.com/

It has the etymologies of almost every single given name, as well as famous people with that name.

Yes, "Anna" is derived from "Hannah," given that some languages have silent "h"s. Likewise, "Ann," "Anne," "Ana," and "Hanna" are also derived from "Hannah."

Here is information about the name "Hannah": http://www.behindthename.com/name/hannah.

I have finished "johnning" for this thread.

I must sincerely apologise, the translation I am actually looking for is 'Hannah Grace Of God' not Gift of god. Can you help me please?

Scrabblehack's suggestion Gratia Dei is a good Biblical way of translating Grace of God.

"Grace" comes from Latin "gratia".
