I've been thoroughly reading up on Marcus Aurelius since his name was given to me and I have grown a fond interest in this quote, as I have done many tattoos on myself already for almost three years I would like to know a proper translation as to honour a part of history as well as a part of me.

saying would be writen
"How ridiculous and how strange to be surprised at anything that happens in life"

or as discussion suggests previously reverse written to:
"How ridiculous and what a stranger you are if you are surprised at anything which happens in life"

any clarity on the proper origin of this and possible translations of both would be greatly appreciated

Πῶς γελοῖος καὶ ξένος ὁ θαυμάζων ὁτιοῦν τῶν ἐν τῷ βίῳ γινομένων.
The work was written in Greek; a Latin translation would be no more authentic than an English one.
