There are quite a few other verbs, some with ablative, e.g. persono, modulor; some, more logically, with accusative, e.g. pulso, tendo. persono, I see, can take the accusative also in later Latin.
persono sounds like a pretty good word to approximate "shred", with a denotation that's perhaps even a little more chaotic.
