ingeniare and ingenium in Latin Alphabet

New Member
Forgive me if this question shows my ignorance but how would these latin words have been spelled in antiquity considering, for example, there is no U in the classical latin alphabet?

Ingeniare and Ingenium

Thank you!

ingeniare doesn't seem to be a classical Latin word, so it wouldn't have been spelled in antiquity at all.

Ingenium would be spelled INGENIVM (v and u were the same letter).
There's also Roman cursive, though (look at the "cursiva antigua" parts)
