Latin America

AFAIK 'Latin America' was born 'Amérique Latine' in Paris during the 1850-60 ... Relevant names apparently being Francisco Bilbao Barquin, José María Torres Caicedo, Michel Chevalier and Napoleon III ... it all has to do with panlatinism, utopic socialism, Quai d'Orsay ambitions in Mexico, etc ... When using Spanish I prefer to use 'Iberoamérica' or 'Hispanoamérica'.

Ibero-America makes much more sense than Latin America from the geopolitical perspective.
