We hope to remain with the .COM domain as our primary domain indefinitely, but since there is always some uncertainty surrounding it, these backup domains will always work just in case.

If you wish to use the ORG domain, your browser sees it as a new website and thus you will always require a separate log-in. You can be logged in at .com while logged out at .org or any other combination you can think of. The browser thinks it's another website (but it's not really).
