I found the following phrase in a textbook and I was wondering whether my translation is quite accurate. (N.B. I only bothered with the Dative diacritics here.)

Αλλα δια τι συν λογχῃ μακρᾷ η Αθηνα εστι προ της στηλης;

My attempt: "But why is Athena together with a long spear before the stele?"
Notes: I translated δια τι as why, and συν (+ Dative) as together with.

It looks OK, though I'd have phrased it slightly differently: "why is Athena in front of the stele with (or "holding") a long spear?"
