I'm planning on getting a tattoo of "Perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim" on my shoulder blade.

I want to make sure the translation that i researched is correct: "Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you."

I was also wondering if it was proper language if I took out the semi-colon and capitalized "Dolor" to make the tattoo two lines.

Any advice and opinions are welcome. This is how i would prefer the tattoo to be like. (the lines would be centered)
Perfer et obdura
Dolor hic tibi proderit olim

Re: Help with a translation???

Yes, your translation is correct. I reckon it doesn't matter much how you spell it.

As for its pronunciation: Since this is a hexametre, it's stressed on the following syllables:
Pérfer et óbdurá dolor híc tibi próderit ólim
long vowels are: the u and the a in obdura; the o in proderit; the o in olim
