This could actually be quite a fun thread...although there may be some problems with translation of things like, 'I seem to have lost my phone number, can I borrow yours?', as I doubt there is a word for phone in Latin? hehe

There's nothing in today's fast-paced world of technology and computers that cannot be rendered in Latin, trust me. Telephone is simply telephonum, since both its parts are derived from Greek, which Latin later absorbed, so we're actually using Greek here, and not even English! What do you say to that?

This is what I would say to a lady-friend: Affirmo tibi, amantissima, te omnium puellarum hoc in mundo pulcherrimam esse .

oculi tui pulchri sunt.

Your eyes are beautiful.
I highly doubt a pick-up line ending in 'sunt' would work very well in a nightclub :D

No lady would understand this, anyway. Only Latinists can appreciate it.

Except for lady Latinists, of course.

In which case, say this:

VIVAMVS·MEA·LESBIA·ATQVE·AMEMVS
RVMORESQVE·SENVM·SEVERIORVM
OMNES·ÆSTIMEMVS·ASSIS
SOLES·OCCIDERE·&·REDIRE·POSSVNT
NOBIS·SEMEL·CVM·OCCIDIT·BREVIS·LVX
NOX·EST·VNA·DORMIENDA

Yes, of course, lady Latinists, sorry. So let's finish it:

DEIN CVM MILIA MVLTA FECERIMVS
CONTVRBABIBVS ILLA NE SCIAMVS
AVT NEQVIS MALVS INVIDERE POSSIT
CVM TANTVM SCIAT ESSE BASIORVM.

No better way to charm a person than by reciting love poetry, honestly.
