Verbis tuis denuo diligentissime perpensis, o vir tenebrose, fieri non potest quin scribam:

Orbem signiferum, cui Zωδιακὸν breve nomen,
Ante oculos posuit mens tibi, amice, sagax.

A pair of dice (duo tali)?

The numbers don't seem to add up, though, but it's my best guess...

Ay, laddy.

The numbers don't seem to add up, though, but it's my best guess...
Aw, crap. I think I multiplied one time too many. I can't even remember what number I had in mind. I got distracted trying to make the meter work & the Latin music on the radio.
At any rate, you're turnum ist.

Do you routinely address females as laddy? Shouldn't it be lassie?
Hah! It shouldn't be either. :toothless: You're my elder & I must therefore call you only 'Madam' or 'Your Holy Reverence(sse)'.

Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about.

If it's any relief to you, I wouldn't have got your puzzle even if the maths had been right ... and that although I sort of knew I had to look for an English word in the last line :D

Dixisti "duodecim", deinde "ter totidem". Ter duodecim sunt triginta sex. Qui igitur cohaeret? Ubi in duobus talis invenias triginta sex?

Una ex quinquaginta Civitatibus Foederatis Americae solis geometricis formis terminatur, atque ita ut eius regio in septentriones spectans parte arcus circuli paene perfecti definiatur.

Quae sum civitas?

In the sum of all the 'black eyes' (lumina nigra), i.e. 'pips'. There are 21 eyes per die, meaning 42 total. I said ter totidem saltem, to mean 'at least three times as many (as 12, that is 36).

The maths, I intend to show, are right. Two dice have a combined total of 12 faces & 42 pips. 42 is more than three times the sum of faces (i.e. 36), hence the saltem.
