A lot has been said here (and not only by me) on the utility of the Vulgate as a text for beginning Latin students. Earlier today, in addressing a translation question in our English-to-Latin Section, I had occasion to quote a verse from the Psalms (CIXX: 18):
Revela oculos meos, et considerabo mirabilia de lege Tua.
"Open Thou mine eyes, and I will behold the wonders of Thy law"
It occurs to me that for some, the reading of Jerome's text might be more than a mere philologic exercise, and for such, I thought, this text might make a useful short prayer before study.
