But, "Japan" is still debated among many. There are insane arguments on the etymology.
Not even mentioning the language itself.
It is called an isolate.
Korean has been attempted to be linked to this.
However, many scholars are against this. Looking at both, I would have to say that I agree with them- the notion of them being East Asiatic languages means absolutely nothing. Just because they are close together physically does not mean they're close together genetically.
And, the Altaic languages were brought to the debate as well.
