Not at all! For example, Bibliotheca by Apollodorus is prose (and quite easy I might add).

What chapter have you reached? It gets noticeably more complex the further you get into the book.

It certainly does get more complex, but for some reason, I prefer the faster grammar learning pace of other textbooks.
