Vulgar Latin

I thought I'd open a thread about questions regarding Vulgar Latin.

This time I'd like to talk about consonant clusters in Dalmatian and Romanian. There are some consonant clusters that are pretty much the same, like ct, cs, gn among others.

As far as I know, Densusianu thought of Romanian and Dalmatian being closely related (at least in the first phases of their development), while Petrovici and Ivănescu disagreed. The problem is the lack of data for early Romanian and Dalmatian. In fact, we only have texts for Dalmatian from the 19th century, shortly before it disappeared. Romanian is an enigma as well, since the first remaining written text is from the 16th century.

Does anyone have any idea/thought/insight into that?
