What are you listening to? (music)

I wonder how many bad AllPoetry poems I'd end up listening to if they were set to catchy tunes like this. The lyrics are hardly coherent but the music pretty much redeems that flaw.

@Pacifica thanks for references to Blind Guardian, Nightwish and Scandinavian Viking Folk (It brought back memories of good ol' headbanger times

A walk down memory lane (when European Gothic Metal was still European Gothic Metal and Nightwish was still Nightwish)

I like that song. I remember sharing it either here or on the "stuck in your head" thread a few years ago.

Definitely a song worth remembering (especially with Tarja Turunen's beutiful lyrical soprano).

Well, bear in mind that it's a "study piece" designed to develop the player's technique, but of course a well-written one isn't merely limited to technical aspects. ;)

This just played on the radio. I think you'll like it, @Pacifica (if you don't know it already).

Water was running children were running
You were running out of time
Under the mountain, a golden fountain
Were you praying at the Lares shrine?

But oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Oh, oh your city lies in dust, my friend

We found you hiding we found you lying
Choking on the dirt and sand
Your former glories and all the stories
Dragged and washed with eager hands

But, oh oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Oh oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Your city lies in dust

Water was running children were running
We found you hiding we found you lying
Water was running children were running
We found you hiding we found you lying

Your city lies in dust, my friend
Oh oh your city lies in dust, my friend

Hot and burning in your nostrils
Pouring down your gaping mouth
Your molten bodies blanket of cinders
Caught in the throes

Oh oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Oh oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Oh your city lies in dust, my friend
Your city lies in dust, my friend
Oh your city lies in dust, my friend

This shitty Imagine Dragons song plays at work sometimes, and I kept thinking he was saying 'I'm a vam-pa-yeeeeer.' Thought maybe a new Twilight movie was on the horizon.

I now see that the video is every bit as abysmal as expected (pseudo-intellectual art-pop pageantry & a frolicking lacy Froy-line... kill me now, kill me now)

You fugue I imagine. I can't recall so by your pieces but you play Couperin so I think it's a safe punt. I will have another listen later.

Edit: F Couperin
