I am working through Winnie the Pooh in Latin, and I am wondering about this particular sentence.
Die quodam inter ambulandum media in silva ad rariorem silvae locum pervenit et medio in loco quercus permagna stabat et de sublimi quercu rumor magnus apium consonantium prodibat.
I can understand the meaning of the sentence, but am not sure about "inter ambulandum". Is this a gerund? If so why does he not use a participle here? Am I right in thinking that it means "while walking"? Surely a gerund is only used as a verbal noun.
