HW: desistite

Our assignment needs us to define certain words (with gen, case, #)and then give derivatives. I am having a problem with one word. I think I am possibly overthinking it, but I can't decide if it is right or not.

Word: desistite
Definition: y'all stopped

Is that correct?

What am I doing wrong? Does desistite not mean stop? or is it the case/num/etc that is wrong?

The number and person are right. The tense and mood are wrong.

Okay, I went back through all of my notes. Since it's a direct command it defines as "Y'all stop" Is that correct now?

As a command, yes. You should probably specify it for your teacher because "Ya'll stop" can be taken as a statement as well.
