"Courage through Knowledge"

Thanks in advance for assistance with this.

I volunteer for our fire department and handle communications/technology. We are establishing a training academy, and my Chief would like this to be our motto and wants it in Latin on our logo. His original request is "Courage through Training" but I think Knowledge in the context of learning skills is more appropriate.

I really appreciate any help, as he's currently moving forward with something off Google Translate that I KNOW is wrong. Help!

Serving as a fireman is a noble act. Respect:hat:

For a raw draft, I was thinking of: [Audentia/Sollertia] exercitatione [acquisita/ exculta] - [Courage/ Skill] [acquired/ perfected] by (means of) training.

I was thinking of fortitudo, but I guess virtus would work as well.
I'd be wary of audentia, as that's more like "rashness, boldness."

How about

Ex scientia fortitudo

(or

Fortitudo ex scientia)

Scientia sounds a bit too intellectual in this context. What about per industriam? With a nod to Vegetius: Paucos uiros fortes natura procreat, bona institutione plures reddit industria.

I agree with you.

theory:
doctrina
practice: usus
(cf. Cic. de orat. 3, 88)
courage: fortitudo

"Ex doctrina usuque fortitudo"
