So I had an idea for a motto/potential tattoo that would mean something like "Truth precedes all things" in the way that Vincit Omnia Veritas means "Truth conquers all things." I want it to primarily mean that truth should be my first consideration in how I act in the world, but also that there is a base-level "truth" to reality that precedes our interpretations of it (rather than everything just being interpretations and narratives). I get that no phrase will mean those things exactly, I'm just looking for a translation that could mean those things. My best attempts with some online dictionaries like latin-dictionary.net (not machine translators, I promise I read the rules lol) have gotten me "Praecedit Omnia Veritas" and "Antecedit Omnia Veritas" but I'm open to any phrasing. Thanks!
