Phrase from "Kingdom of Heaven":
"What man is a man who does not make the world better"

I can't make out all of the lettering on the beam in the movie.

all I've got is:

"... qui mundum non feddae meliorem"

Thanks in advance for any help.

Unfortunately I do not know the original phrase and I couldn't find it online...

feddae seems to be wrong... at least I cannot find it in any of my dictionaries.

Here is my attempt:
qui vir est qui mundum non facit meliorem?

Oh thank you Gladiator! With your help I found the original phrase:

"Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem"
Literally: no one is a man who does not render the world better.

Boy was I looking for this phrase!

Sorry we made you wait for so long, aleena.

Thanks so much for all the help! No worries on the wait.

I thought the phrase in the movie was a bit off from what I could find online.

:D

Re: translation

Here's my suggestion: Qualis est vir qui mundum non meliorem reddat?

Vir is strictly "man" in Latin. If you want to be more gender neutral, replace it with homo.

1. “What man is a man who does not make the world better?”

2. I intend to make a wooden beam with the words inscribed in Latin as a decoration for my room.

3. This phrase is a motivational phrase that I like to remind myself of in my daily life. I got it from the movie Kingdom of Heaven, where the phrase, in Latin, is inscribed into a wooden beam in the main character’s blacksmith’s shop in the beginning of the film. I have searched for an accurate translation into Latin, since the entirety of the beam is not visible in the movie, and I have also heard that it is probably not even accurate, yet I have not found any definitive answers. I also searched this site but it appears nobody else has asked.

4. It refers to a man because I am male.
Thanks in advance for any and all help!
