Hello,

First strophe :

Vitas inuleo me similis, Chloe,
quaerenti pavidam montibus aviis
matrem non sine vano
aurarum et silvae metu.

If I'm not mistaken, these are asclepiad verses but I don't know how to scan the verse:

aurar(um) et silvae metu.

It should be:
_ _ | _ uu _ | ux

Does that mean that, in a choriamb (_uu_), the two short syllables can also be replaced by a long one (_ _ _)? Or that the semi-consonant "v" in "silvae" somehow should be pronounced like a vowel "u" (which would scan like "si-lu-ae"?) Or something else?

Thanks

aurar(um) et silvae metu.
It should be:
_ _ | _ uu _ | ux
silvae] sĭ-lŭ-ae: trisyllabic as in epod. 13, 2

No.
