I'm asking for your help in translating the phrase, "mining our future out of our past" from English to the Latin equivalent. I'm the leader of a small research and development program; I have designed two logos for my program. Tradition with these logos has been to include Latin phrases, thus, I wish to obtain a quality translation. To me - this phrase indicates that we are looking to historical materials to gain information and better guide our future research efforts. The phrase is not gender-specific - it refers to what the program is doing.

Literally, "We uncover/are uncovering our future from our past."

You could also omit the aperimus and have it mean, "Our future from our past."

To say "future" and "past", the neuter plural is rather used.

E praeteritis nostris effodimus futura nostra = we are mining our future out of our past.

Or in another order if you like: futura nostra e praeteritis nostris effodimus, e praeteritis nostris futura nostra effodimus...
