Spanish + Latin?

Decision time: I study languages at home and am now at intermediate Spanish after 2 1/2 years.

I have long wanted to learn Latin (or try to!) and am thinking to be realistic, study one at a time, so suspend the Spanish and go for Latin?

Or - is there wisdom out there that shows it's possible to learn both well?

Your views are very welcome.

If your Spanish is intermediate it might be a good idea to start learning Latin using Spanish textbooks, so that you can go on improving your Spanish while learning Latin. Latinum per se by Alfredo Encuentra Ortega is very nice indeed. Also, you can find and download older editions of Latin grammar books and textbooks and suchlike (written in Spanish) on archive.org, search by método de latín and lengua latina.
This here is a piece of my wisdom.
